UNESCO WFUCA is a civil society organization with legal, financial and operational autonomy. It is not part of UNESCO's organic structure, headquartered in Paris, France, nor does it act as an official representative of that intergovernmental organization.
Its existence and activities are grounded in the worldwide UNESCO Clubs movement, formally recognized by UNESCO through a formal consultative relationship with the World Federation WFUCA. This legal status enables collaboration and dialogue with UNESCO in its fields of competence — education, science, culture and communication — while each regional federation retains full operational and governance independence.
